FAQs

Do I need to prepare for my colonic irrigation treatment?

During the 48 hours before your treatment you should avoid fizzy drinks, caffeine, alcohol, red meat and dairy products. We recommend that no food be consumed 2 hours before your treatment as some abdominal massage is part of the treatment.

Will my dignity be protected?

We use fully disposable kits: speculum, water line, waste line, undergarments and incapads. You are covered at all times. The toilet and changing rooms are for your exclusive use to ensure complete privacy.

What if I want to go to the toilet during the treatment?

We are using a closed system so faecal matter will be expelled by the attached flexi tube. If you chose to, you can of course get up any time and use the toilet which is located in the adjacent bathroom reserved for your exclusive use.

What happens after the treatment?

Due to the waste and faecal matter removed during the colonic irrigation treatment you will see a weight loss of a few pounds. Also, as your colon has been emptied, it may take a couple of days to resume regular bowel movements. As part of the after care, you will be given dietary and life style advice. Otherwise you can carry on with your normal routine straight after the treatment.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes. Our therapists are registered health care professionals and have received special training for the performance of colonic irrigation treatments. The water used during the treatment is softened, filtered and purified via a 3-stage filtration system before being introduced at a low pressure at body temperature. All equipment is disposable and we pride ourselves at the high hygiene standards we apply.

Does it hurt?

The treatment does not cause pain. If you never had a colonic before you may experience a “strange” sensation of wanting to go to the toilet but you will get used to this after the first minutes. The process of filling the colon with water can be felt but is not uncomfortable.

How will I feel after the treatment?

In general, you will be able resume your daily routine without limitations, drive, go back to work etc. You may feel immediately energized, lighter, tired (like after a good workout), hungry or don’t feel like eating at all – depending on your individual state of health and physical condition. Some people may feel quite tired as the detoxification process kicks in deeper. In this case, we recommend a repeat colonic irrigation. We also recommend light meals and abstinence from alcohol and caffeine for the 48 hours following the treatment.

Can I have a colonic if I am having a period?

Yes, having a period is not a contraindication. Please make sure to bring a spare tampon or towel for your use directly after the treatment. In case you chose not to have a colonic during your period, please make sure to let us know in time to comply with our cancellation policy.

Can I have a colonic during pregnancy?

We do not recommend colonics during pregnancy. For us, it is a contraindication.

Can I drive after the treatment?

While some people think that you will have to rush to the loo constantly for the rest of the day after a colonic irrigation, this is absolutely not the case. In fact, most of the faecal matter will be expelled during the treatment. Any residual water will be eliminated when you go to the toilet immediately after the treatment. This is normal and expected as gravity will cause all fluids to come out when you get up to get changed. You will be able to return to work directly after the treatment.
